PRICES & DELIVERY TIME
Prices effective 2010-02-06

Delivery time depends on how many basses I'm working on when you submit your order. Normal wait time for a workload of 1-3 basses is about 5-7 months (less basses, less wait time). For 3-6 basses the wait increases to 8-12 months (more basses, more wait time). I try not to work on more than 6 basses at a time. If my current workload is 6 basses, you will need to wait until I finish a couple before I can accept your order (see wait list sign up on the left navigation bar).

Priority is given on a first come, first served basis and/or a combination of availability of materials and complexity of the design chosen.

Pricing Estimate Tool

Use this table to get a ball park idea of the final price of your bass. Not all options are included, so ask if you don't see what you want. This tool is provided as a convenience to you as to allow you to assess if the price is within your budget. Once the decision has been made to go ahead with the order I will supply a formal detailed quote valid for 30 days.

STANDARD CONFIGURATION

When not specified, specs fall back to the standard configuration as detailed below. All these specs are included in the base price for the number of strings selected.

  • bolt-on construction
  • 1 piece maple, white ash, bubinga, wenge or similar neck
  • 2 single coil pickups with wooden covers
  • passive vol, tone, blend controls
  • no matching headstock veneer
  • oil/wax finish
  • 34" scale length
  • figured maple, walnut, bubinga or similar top wood
  • alder, hard ash, basswood, poplar, walnut or similar body wood
  • 24 frets with zero fret
  • no fingerboard face markers
  • chrome import hardware (Gotoh or similar)

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • All Ramirez pickups include matching wooden pickup covers and are wound to customer specs (for a specific sound).
  • All basses include DR Strings.
  • All fretted basses include zero fret and plastic or wooden nut standard.
  • All basses include Hipshot Ultralite tuners and A style bridge.
  • (1) All neck construction methods will show the neck on the face of the body as it goes in all the way up to the neck (or single) pickup on a set neck/bolt-on or all the way through the body on a neck through. You can see an example of this here. If you want a full faced top, the method I use involves taking a piece of the top and capping the neck from the end of the fingerboard to the rest of the exposed neck and it optional. $100 for bolt-on/set-neck and $200 for neck-throughs. Please note that it may not be possible on all designs and configuration and be sure to inquire beforehand. TODO: example image.
  • Please don't ask me to build any more copies of existing basses by other manufacturers. I did a couple on the first few basses I built, but I am not doing it anymore. So if you're going for a custom shape other than what I offer be sure it's YOUR original design.

TERMS
Once the features you want on your bass have been decided, an advance of 50% of the total is required and build starts immediately after payment is cleared. I accept paypal, personal check (US customers only) and money order. Build time is usually between 6 to 12 months depending on how many orders I'm working at the same time (I never take more than 6 orders at a time to try and keep this timeline to a minimum). Balance remainder is due when the instrument is completed. You can also opt for a 3 payment plan, in which you submit advance payment of 1/3 of the total cost of the instrument, submit the second payment after about 3-4 months after that, then the remainder when the instrument is completed. The bad side about this is that your project will be stalled, delayed and possibly moved down in queue priority if you do not submit the second payment in a timely manner. UPDATE: The 3 payment plan that was previously offered has been discontinued (as of 2008-06-26) in favor of the customer's interest in having the bass delivered on schedule. The 50/50 plan works best for both of us since you don't have to worry about missing the second payment and your bass going to the bottom of the work queue increasing delivery time by as much as a whole year more than what was originally quoted.

The bass comes with warranty against workmanship defects and these will be repaired without cost to the original owner for a period of 3 years from the date of delivery.

I make sure and do everything in my power to get the most information out of the customer in order for him to receive exactly the instrument he wants, but because each instrument is tailored specifically to the needs of each customer, I cannot offer money back guarantee. I will, however, fix anything that is not exactly as the customer requested, without charge.
